Vibrational Transformations: Susan Fyfe, In Her Own Words

It’s amazing how the people who were important to you when you were a teen can come back into your life years later.

Susan Fyfe and I went to high school together here in Nazareth, PA. We drifted apart once school ended and we moved away. Just a few years ago, we reconnected on Facebook when she was searching for new healing modalities. She enrolled in my online summer pilot program and, unsurprising to me, was the very first student to test for their final certification. She is an incredible person whose passion for healing truly reflects what the Alexander Method is all about. Here is her story in her words!

I just wanted to share how transformation it’s been for my friends and me since I became certified in the Alexander Method of Vibrational Sound and Energy Therapy in late June of 2018.

I have always been drawn to the healing arts and have been a Reiki Master/Teacher for a few years now. When I first reconnected with Lisa and heard about The Alexander Method, I intuitively knew that I had to learn this method, despite having zero experience with it.

Since becoming certified, I have treated about 20 people, many of them multiple times. The worst review I’ve gotten so far was “That was nice. I feel good!” That was, of course, from my 24-year old son (Gah, it so tough to impress your kids, am I right?!) Others, however, had transformative experiences. Everyone leaves the treatment with a feeling of peace and calm that they say feels wonderful. Some people have very spiritual experiences on the table such as meeting their guides. I’ve even had two people leave their bodies during treatment!

Three experiences have really stuck with me.

It’s truly incredible when I witness a severe Chakra blockage open right up in front of me. I once treated a man that had been trying to leave his wife for years (and, believe me, he needed to), but his throat Chakra was dead. He came to me looking for help. Only four days after the treatment, he finally had “the talk” with her. I can still remember feeling him physically vibrate when we hugged goodbye.

Another powerful experience I’ve had recently was treating a teenage runaway. She came to me with some major blockages, to say the least. She agreed to the treatment, although a little reluctantly. I imagine living her circumstances would make it a little difficult to trust anyone. After the treatment, she told me it very relaxing and left. I thought that was it. But then, I received an unexpected call from her mother. She reported to me that her daughter returned home. It was like she had her old child back! I got goosebumps writing this!

Finally, I once treated a close friend who had an extreme anxiety problem. It was impacting every aspect of her life, including her relationship with her husband. After only two treatments, it was like she was a whole new person! She even told me that her sex life was renewed, making her connection with her husband stronger than ever. Believe it or not, she just texted me while I was writing this asking for her fourth treatment!

Funny enough, I never received my own treatment until after I became certified. All I can say is WOW! The level 3 tuning I received was like nothing I have ever experienced in all my years in the spiritual arts. I can’t wait to get to that level. That experience only strengthened my belief that the Alexander Method can bring about a tremendous transformation.

I LOVE doing this work and can’t wait to treat the next person on my table. It’s so exciting and rewarding being able to help people with so little effort! I do believe that it’s the proper intention, along with Lisa’s techniques, that makes it so effective. I can’t wait to receive further training!

I feel that every session I give, someone is expanding my psychic abilities, allowing me to help more people by understanding exactly where they are coming from. I wish I could be doing this full-time, but I am currently single and have a demanding job as an Engineer. So I will just spend whatever free time I can muster doing this.

Mantra Meditation

In our first few articles on beginning a meditation practice we focused on the posture and the breath.  There are many more breathing techniques besides the ones I previously mentioned. These were the most simple and effective for an early practice.  (prior meditations articles)

The next important part of beginning meditation is attempting to control what the Buddhists call the ‘monkey mind’, our wandering mind of to-do lists and other random thoughts.  Know that you won't always completely achieve this, and know that's OK. When you find your mind starting to wander, forget it, don’t get angry, instead forgive it,  just tell it next, never mind, etc… and return to focusing on your ‘in’ breath and ‘out’ breath. 

A great way to do that is with the ‘mantra’. A mantra is a one or two word phrase that you use to focus on your Breath. For example, at the Himalayan Institute where I studied, they often used the phrase “SOOO….HUMMM” . In Sanskrit, (ancient Indian text/language),  that means “I am that I am”.  So on the ‘in’ breath you would say out loud or to yourself…”SOOOO” and on the ‘out’ breath “HUUMMM”.  You can choose any two words you want, but your mind calms itself best if it focuses on something it doesn't know what it means.

The word mantra can be broken down into two parts: “man,” which means mind, and “tra,” which means transport or vehicle.  So the mantra is a powerful sound or vibration that you can use to enter a deep state of relaxed meditation.

Ohm or Aum is the most basic, well-known and powerful mantra you can chant. By repeating this universal mantra, you will create powerful, positive vibrations in your body. Chanting this, or another single syllable mantra, will help keep your meditation on track and on focus.  By repeating a mantra you will also help transform the mind by creating positive mental patterns.

  • Creates compassion & empathy
  • Boosts awareness and promotes higher consciousness
  • Heightens intuition
  • Lowers blood pressure

Ohm Tuner

Developing a daily meditation practice helps you to cultivate a more present, peaceful, and balanced lifestyle, which ripples out into every other aspect of your life and to those around you. Mantra meditation can help bring you back to a centered and present state of mind and being.

One of the great tools that I, my clients and students, have found particularly helpful in bringing on the relaxation and focus of the Ohm, is the use of theOhm tuner .  This simple weighted tuning fork is calibrated to the sound of the Ohm, 136Hz, and is simple to use.  I use this in my practice to help bring on an instant state of relaxation to my clients before we start an Alexander Method of Vibrational Sound Therapy session.  I also use this at the end of a session for deep grounding.

For Meditation, you can sound this tuning fork several times in your ears to start getting yourself vibrating and chanting to this frequency.   Before you know it, you will be relaxed and meditating like a Zen Monk.

I hope these techniques help you in cultivating a simple meditation practice that you can stick with and grow with.  The most important thing is to show up regularly to do this.  Even 5 minutes a day, everyday, will have a great and profound effect on you over all well being.
